Some of us still remember the classic TV show “Lassie,” about a dog who was so heroic that she always played a role in saving someone’s life. But dogs are heroes in real life too. They not only guide the blind, but sniff out weapons and explosives for law enforcement. Their instincts are so uncanny, they even help in the war on drugs. It seems to be in their nature to save people, just like these heroic pooches, who took the adage, “man’s best friend” to a whole new level.
An 8-month-old German Shepherd in Clacton, UK, named Geo saved 10-year-old Charlie Riley’s life when he pushed the boy out of the path of a runaway truck. Unfortunately, the pooch took the hit, and is mending a broken leg and spine, but doing really well.
The Gassy Situation
Reddit’s NobelLandMermaid‘s dog kept barking at her for half an hour to take him out. She assumed it wanted to pee, but it turns out there was a gas leak in her home, and he just wanted to get her out of there. *I’m not crying, you’re crying!*
Taking The Hit
Layka, a Belgian Malinois military dog was shot by an AK-47 4 times and at point blank range, but she managed to stop the insurgent who was attacking her human. After a 7-hour long surgery, she survived, but lost a leg.
